Custom Work
Have an idea for something you can't find off the shelf?
The products at Big Kansas Coil started because I wanted something that either didn't exist, didn't work quite the way I wanted, or I simply thought I could make better.
I take on a limited amount of custom design and fabrication work, particularly for amateur radio, electronics, portable equipment, and other small mechanical projects.
My capabilities include:
- Custom 3D design and CAD work
- Functional 3D printing in materials such as PA6-GF, PAHT-CF, PA612, ASA-CF, ABS, ASA, TPU, PETG, PLA, along with others
- Temperature annealing/treating of Nylons post printing
- Antenna components, loading coils, mounts, adapters, insulators, and enclosures
- Battery boxes, equipment protection, brackets, and mounting hardware
- Small-run parts and prototypes
- Modification or redesign of existing parts
- One-off solutions for unusual problems
I'm much more interested in making functional parts than decorative prints. If something needs to survive outdoors, live in a hot vehicle, carry a mechanical load, hold an antenna together, or otherwise do an actual job, that's the type of project I enjoy.
Have an Idea?
Send me a description of what you're trying to accomplish. A sketch, photo, dimensions, or even an example of something that's almost what you need can be enough to get started.
Not every project is practical or economical to make, and I'll tell you if I don't think I can make something that will work well.
For projects that are a good fit, I can help take an idea from a rough concept through design, prototyping, and a finished part.
Contact me and tell me what you're trying to build.
