The Big Kansas Coil is a 3d printed, lightweight, portable base loaded vertical coil. Manufactured out of engineering grade Glass and Carbon Fiber filled Nylon material, it stands up to heat, weather, and rugged portable use without any problems. It is made with 16ga stainless steel wire wrapped around the coil body and allows you to go from 6m all the way to 80m, with a 112in whip, in a coil less than 6.5” tall and under 14oz!
Using the scale on the front, it easily allows you to record band settings and go back time and time again without having to count clicks over the coil or measurements. Adjustment is made via the quick change tuning clip, this allows you to short out the coil to change how much is engaged. It is easily adjustable with finger tabs then securely stays in place.
The whip is a 7-Section 112in long whip made of stainless tube with brass connection points. It is held together by a spring loaded rope and is a durable, light weight, compact whip that packs up into a 17" long package.
The genuine Amphenol RF SO-239 connector mounted on the front allows easy use of coax right to the coil, no adapters needed.
A plated solid brass thumb screw on the side allows for radial connections or a spot to clamp a Mueller clip or other spring clip for easy connections!
This is a great POTA/SOTA/EmComm antenna with the compact size and ability to tune all the HF bands in such a lightweight package!
Power usage is rated at a conservative 100w digital, 200w SSB, with under 2:1 SWR.
The accessory combo includes 7-section 112in manpack whip, 3x 33' 18awg radial wires, wire winders for the radials, tripod base, and legs out of galvanized steel tubing.
Radials are 33ft long, 18awg Silicone insulated wire for ultimate flexibility, complete with custom wire winders for stowing and deploying the radials.
Tripod base is 3d printed out of engineering grade filled Nylon 6 material. Threaded socket on the top for a 3/8-24 set screw, loop on the bottom for tying it down, and set screws for the legs.
Legs for the tripod are made out of lightweight galvanized steel tubing, complete with storage clips for them and held together with 3/4" webbing and a buckle for easy storage and transport.
